Wind CaTCHER
A wind catcher technology, as a smart integrated architectural design is developed to support two major aspects of a high-performance building: (1) obtaining an improved ventilation by taking fresh air into the building that improves the air quality and reduces thermal loads on HVAC system, and (2) integrating renewable energy solutions into the building by harnessing wind power going through the wind catcher system to generate electricity. The proof of concept phase was supported by Maryland Industrial Partnerships (MIPS) and the results are documented by multiple publications and presentations.
