UNC Charlotte offers two targeted certificate programs designed to equip students with the skills and mindset to thrive in entrepreneurial and innovation-driven environments. The Undergraduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship introduces students to entrepreneurial thinking and action, providing a foundation for launching ventures or innovating within organizations. Open to all majors, this program is ideal for students seeking to broaden their career opportunities with entrepreneurial skills.

For graduate students and working professionals, the Graduate Certificate in Corporate Venturing focuses on fostering innovation within established companies. This program equips learners with the tools to identify growth opportunities, drive strategic change, and create value in competitive markets. It also serves as a pathway to the MBA program, with all credits fully transferable.

Undergraduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship

The Undergraduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship provides students with an understanding of how to think and act entrepreneurially in efficient and effective ways. Open to all UNC Charlotte undergraduate students, the capacity of the program is restricted to 60 students entering the program per year.

To be accepted into the Undergraduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship program, students must present a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and be on track to obtain Junior standing by the time of enrollment in the Undergraduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship. In addition, interested students must submit an online application, including a statement of purpose.

Graduate Certificate in Corporate Venturing

Firms are increasingly realizing the need to evolve their sources of competitive advantage by identifying opportunities, deconstructing orthodoxies and pre-adapting in hyper-competitive marketplaces. The Corporate Venturing certificate provides students with unique skills to complement their existing education and experiences in order to create new ventures or to add new value to their corporate employers.

The graduate certificate in Corporate Venturing also allows students considering the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program and other graduate studies in entrepreneurship to explore material prior to formally committing to a full graduate degree program. The certificate program requires completion of 12 graduate credit hours of coursework in entrepreneurship and innovation (four courses). Students who complete the certificate and are admitted to the MBA program can apply all four certificate courses toward completion of the MBA.
