Why I joined 49er Foundry: I joined 49er Foundry because of the various resources including mentorship, networking, financial and potential partnership opportunities available to support students working towards building solutions that could have significant impacts on their communities and the world at large.

Short Term Goals: In the short term, in addition to conducting research-related activities, I am also working with other members of the Proaktif team to conclude our proof-of-concept and proceed with plans for a pilot in partnership with one of the electric distribution utilities and a state government in Nigeria. I am also actively studying microeconomic and macroeconomic implications of clean energy especially in emerging markets.

Goals for my degree & company: I am working towards obtaining my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (with a focus on Power and Energy Systems) with a minor in Applied Econometrics. In addition to contributing to the existing body of knowledge, I intend to fuse my technical expertise with a sound understanding of business and economic principles which are crucial to creating truly sustainable energy solutions. In the long-term, I see myself using these skills to lead different energy and sustainability-related projects in different parts of the world.

For Proaktif, our long term goal is to build a truly sustainable company that will catalyze the proliferation of prosumer-centric energy technologies in emerging markets and energy-poor regions of the world thereby contributing to the prosperity of such regions.
